NEC opens corporate office in Wollongong

NEC to open $25 million corporate offices at the Innovation Campus at University of Wollongong

Technology Company NEC Australia and the University of Wollongong have signed a multimillion-dollar deal that will create more than 100 jobs and keep graduates in the city.

NEC will invest $25 million into a new corporate office at UOW’s Innovation Campus and will partner with the university to ensure students can build their information and communications technology [ICT] careers in Wollongong.

The office will provide new service capabilities across regional NSW, as well as support clients interstate and across the world.

It is expected to open early next year and create 110 full-time equivalent jobs.

NEC Australia NSW manager Peter Boyd said specialists in ICT outsourcing, cloud infrastructure, customer experience and business intelligence were among the roles to be filled in Wollongong.

Mr Boyd said the move was one of the company’s largest investments in NSW and meant space to ‘‘add significant numbers of new permanent jobs’’.

NEC managing director Tetsuro Akagi joined Minister for the Illawarra John Ajaka, Wollongong Lord Mayor Gordon Bradbery and UOW representatives to sign a lease agreement on Wednesday.
