Wollongong IT company Microsolve has been named the winner of the Excellence in AgeFriendly Category at the 2015 Illawarra Business Chamber Awards. Founder and owner of Microsolve, Dale Jenkins, accepted the Award at the prestigious function at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre on Friday (October 23).

“On behalf of all of my team I thank the IBC and the sponsor the IRT Foundation for this much valued award,” he said in accepting the trophy. Illawarra Business Chamber CEO Debra Murphy said the award recognised a business that demonstrated an exemplary commitment to building age-friendly capacity in the Illawarra. She said the judging panel looked for a business that implemented strategies to support older consumers by providing services that were innovative, respectful, relevant and appropriate for older customers.

Mr Jenkins said Microsolve was a specialist consulting company supporting the IT needs of many Australian businesses and had worked hard in the aged care sector for more than a decade. “Our experience, knowledge, combined with our excellent customer service, has created long lasting partnerships with our customers in this sector, including Warrigal and Illawarra Diggers,” he said. “Microsolve has implemented and continues to work with clients on many innovative strategies to support our age-friendly community, including mobile devices for aged care, medication management, incontinence management, and devices and systems to support community care coordinators.”

Mr Jenkins paid tribute to his staff for their contribution to winning the award. “The staff is involved in an innovation program in which they can submit ideas to implement new ways to use technology to assist the aged and community care sector,” he said. Microsolve was also a finalist in the Illawarra Business Awards’ Employer of Choice Category.
